Chittlehamholt is a North Devon village of the parish of Chittlehamholt, Satterleigh and Warkleigh. In the 2011 census it was recorded as having a population of 169.
There are 26 Grade II listed buildings including the Exeter Inn, a 16th-century coaching inn with houses and farm buildings. Until 1875 the village was part of Chittlehampton and was originally a clearing in woods where residents could collect logs and kindling.
The parish boundary follows the course of the River Mole in the east and the River Taw in the south and west. The northern boundary runs from Slew in the west, through Drake's Wood and the northern end of Chittlehamholt.

THE CHITTLEHAMHOLT STINK
This is a request to all residents in Chittlehamholt to continue to report
every occurrence of sewage smells to South West Water (SWW).
It is vital that we keep the pressure on SWW so that they take action sooner rather than later.
If we stop reporting the smells, then SWW will assume the situation is improving.
There are a number of ways to report these smell incidents to SWW:
1. via WhatsApp on their website
2. via SWW Customer Services on 0344 346 1010
The Environment Agency have also made available a ‘Smell Diary’ in which you can record every time you smell sewage and how bad it was. These will be given to those already affected but if you wish to have one, please contact Sue Williams at Searles (01769 540270). The working party that has been set up will be collating these each week and sending to SWW.
It is very important to keep reporting the ‘stink’.
On behalf of the Chittlehamholt Stink Working Party and the Parish Council.

The Big Stink!
Please will everyone ring 0800 80 70 60 to report ‘The Chittlehamholt Stink’ if - when - they are affected. This is the link for further information: 'Report an environmental incident' https://www.gov.uk/report-an-environmental-incident
Apparently you do get to speak to a real person! If everyone keeps reporting it to the same place something might get done.
In 2019, NDDC made the decision to stop collecting batteries in your recycling collections due to fires taking place in our recycling hall. If you missed the message, please get on board now to help keep our crews safe. If you would like to recycle your home batteries, please do so at either your local recycling centre or supermarket.
North Devon Council has banned the release of sky lanterns over concerns about the danger they pose to the environment and local community. The decision was backed unanimously by council. The council's event guidance has been updated advising that the use of sky lanterns on council land during events is prohibited.

How would you prepare for an emergency? |
In a recently launched website, the government is encouraging people to think about what they would do if they and those around them were exposed to risks ranging from floods to fires to power cuts.
The website provides simple and effective steps people can take to be more prepared, at gov.uk/prepare. Taking action in advance will make it easier to manage an emergency if it does happen.
Five simple things you can do now
1. Find out if you are eligible to sign up to your gas, electricity and water supplier’s Priority Service Registers, so companies know that you need additional support.
2. Set a reminder in your phone or make a note on your calendar to check your smoke alarm once a month.
3. Write down important phone numbers on paper such as the number to report a power cut (105) and the numbers of anyone you might want to contact in an emergency.
4. Talk to your children about how and when to call 999 and what they should do if there’s an emergency, such as a fire at home.
5. Check your long term flood risk and sign up for flood and weather warnings.
