Class 77 Cherry and Almond Cake
225g (8oz) Flour 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
170g (6oz) Margarine 170g (6oz) sugar
3 Eggs 57g (2oz) Ground Almonds
85g (3oz) Glace Cherries A little Vanilla Essence
Sieve the flour and baking powder together. Stir in the ground almonds and the cherries cut into quarters. Cream the margarine and sugar together. Beat in each egg separately, stir in the dry ingredients adding a little milk if necessary. Add a few drops of vanilla essence. Place in a greased and lined 18cm (7”) tin. Bake in a moderate oven for approximately 1 1/4 hours
A few tips for anyone new to showing
Entries in all classes should be according to the schedule
A specimen rose is one flower only, with no extra buds
Pot sizes are inside top diameter measurements
In Floral art, accessories are allowed in exhibits but not in arrangements
If you are unsure of how to present/display your entry please give us a ring and we will get clarification for you
Please remember this is a fun annual event, and you can try again next year, just enjoy.

1 All completed entry forms to be returned to Mrs H Petherick (4 Taw View Chittlehamholt 01769540494) before 9:00pm on Wednesday 24th July 2024.
Late entries will not be accepted.
2 An entrance fee of 20 pence per exhibit must accompany each entry form.
Please note only children’s classes are free.
3 Individual exhibitors must complete separate entry forms.
(available at the Village Shop or the Exeter Inn)
4 Exhibitors may enter no more than two exhibits in any one class.
If the variety of an exhibit is known, please include this on your entry form.
This is for the benefit of anyone who would be interested in this information but will not affect the judging in any way.
5 Exhibitors are responsible for the proper placing of cards on their exhibits,
which will be available on arrival at the reception desk.
6 Children’s exhibits must indicate their age only.
7 All exhibits must have been grown or produced by, or be entirely the work of the exhibitor, and must not have been exhibited at this show on any previous occasion. All plants must have been owned by the exhibitor for at least 3 months.
8 All cross-stitch, tapestry and needlework must be unframed.
9 The Village Hall will be open from 08:30am on the show day and all exhibits must be on their relevant show bench by 10:30am
10 All vegetables must be washed, free from dust and tops trimmed,
unless otherwise stated.
11 The standard of an exhibit must be high enough to warrant the award of a prize. If you are unsure how to present/display your entry please give the Honorary Secretary a call to clarify prior to the show. The Judge’s decision is final.
12 Exhibits must not be removed from the benches until after the presentation of the cups.
13 The Village Show Committee will not be responsible for any damage to the exhibits.
14 The Exhibitor who wins the same cup for three consecutive years will be presented with a special rosette.
15 All winning exhibitors will be responsible for having their name engraved on the cup and must return the cup in a clean condition to the Honorary Secretary by
July 1st prior to the next show
