SNOW ROUTE & SNOW PRECAUTIONS

For those who do not know, these signs (above) will mark the safest way to and from Chittlehamholt village, as this will be the only route which the Parish Council has agreed to grit and only then when this procedure is considered to be useful.

For anyone interested in learning more about who is responsible for gritting and when this should take place – please contact the Parish Council or go to www.cswparish.org.uk

You may not be aware that only the main highways in Devon are gritted by Devon County Council – all other minor roads are left ungritted unless the relevant parish council has the means to arrange and pay for gritting.

And here is the ‘snow route’

The Village Snow Route

In the event of ice on untreated public roads in the Parishes, people are encouraged to stop and use the bags of grit or grit bins proved by DCC Highways Dept as a means of self help.

Please take care on slippery roads, especially
where fog is also present.

The Parish Council has provided salt bags for villagers' use.
You are welcome to take one per household free of charge
(available from the Village Hall / Shop car park)
